WTF IS AN NFT? The Recap

It was another incredible weekend for the KnownOrigin team, as we partnered up with Manchester’s Finest to bring “WTF are NFTs?”, a disruptive crypto art exhibition at the White Circle Manchester Art Fair 2021.

This was a great opportunity to be part of an art fair that has been majorly traditional in past editions, and to guide attendees on how they can join the NFT space, how they can set up their wallets, create NFTs, buy NFTs, and enjoy the multiple benefits that this new art space can offer.

With a joint exhibition, KnownOrigin + Manchester’s Finest brought striking works of art that could offer insights on the artists’ techniques, or that would offer a set of experiences to collectors, as in the case of Manchester’s Finest artists, Numan with his piece “The House of Mirrors”, and LeiMai LeMaow with “Visionary”. Both offering either physical posters to NFT owners, or glasses to interact with the artwork, as well as a future dinner organized by them and the Manchester’s Finest team to thank collectors for their appreciation and to further connect with their audience.

KnownOrigin made a selection of artists to be part of the exhibition. We wanted for people to be mesmerized by the creative power of NFTs, so we included artworks by Paul Kenton, arclight, Scott Darby, Baugasm, Rathz, David Koblesky, Anna Natter, Matik, Adam Martinakis and Lucho.

The artworks were divided in three batches, covering the three days of the fair, to give a bigger offer of artists. Attendees were able to get POAPs designed by Numan and LeiMai.

Friday was an exciting preview night where we got to meet wonderful people from the Manchester arts scene. Saturday closed on a high note with Jake-Andrew’s live performance, where he painted his latest work “Identity” surprising attendees by showing them how they can create a physical artwork, turn it digital, and mint it on KnownOrigin.

To close the fair on Sunday, Edward X ( Artist and Collector Liaison) and Edua Sykes (Events Manager | Digital Fashion Consultant) gave a presentation on KnownOrigin’s role in the NFT space, along with industry insights from the world of artist/collector liaison. Atendees were also immersed in the promising future of digital fashion, the creation process, its relation to crypto art, and how brands can enhance customer experiences through NFTs.

After three unforgettable days, we turned the screens off, but are left happy for the people we have met, the information we have passed on about NFTs, and the incredible partnership that we had with the team at Manchester’s Finest. We certainly can’t wait to be back.

Until next year!
