Birmingham Contemporary Art Gallery X KnownOrigin

On November 18th, we’ll be co-hosting an event alongside the Birmingham Contemporary Art Gallery, which will aim to introduce the concept of NFTs to skeptics, traditional art collectors and those in general with an interest in this new and booming industry. But why host an event for those who aren’t already in the space and not our beloved NFT community? Well, whilst we enjoy mixing in our online-circles, the space will not grow unless we bring the concept of NFTs and the Metaverse to new people.

Only a small percentage of internet users dabble in our world and without increasing the number of people involved in NFTs, we cannot grow together as a community. This is particularly relevant to our pledge to support artists on our platform. We understand that only a small % of digital artists are financially stable and want to change this. That’s why we want to promote our artists to those outside of the space and bring more eyes and investment into the scene.

At this event in particular, we’ll have 6 screens on display, as well as a live art demonstration by our very own Jake Andrew. The 6 artists on display are Lucho, Dead Seagull, Natalieshau, Goldie, Zach Murray and Jack Kaido. It fills us with pride to be able to have our artists’ work displayed in galleries across the world, whether that be in Birmingham, NYC or Miami!

Working with the Birmingham Contemporary Art Gallery has been an absolute pleasure. It goes without saying that some traditional art galleries are uncooperative with the sweeping sensation that is digital art, however the BCAG is leading this digital transformation in the traditional art world, with head huncho Albert Wallace at the helm. Upon meeting Albert, we were impressed by his knowledge of the NFT world and his willingness to adapt to the times. We learned of Albert’s plans to eventually transform the BCAG into a hybrid gallery, showing the best of both physical and digital art.

This event has also led us to some practices which we believe will be great for future NFT events and showcases. For instance, we’ve created informational packs for those attending the event, outlining how to join KnownOrigin as a creator, how to join KnownOrigin as a collector and an infographic on all of our on-display artists. These features may seem insignificant but can be crucial details in transitioning those from the traditional art world to the digital art world.

The concept of the Birmingham Contemporary Art Gallery is anchored in our ability, over other traditional art galleries, to adapt to and adopt new trends and concepts in the global art space easily and quickly, thus maintaining relevance and staying ahead of the curve.

NFT Explained event will provide a new perspective to the midlands art scene while introducing the concept to traditional art collectors, artists, enthusiasts and those who just wants to know what the hell is it.

We see our gallery concept as disruptors in the creative and innovative art space and breaking down traditional barriers of the art world that limits the proliferation of different genres of art.

We hope that any of our UK-based community are able to join us at this event, as we continue to raise the bar in terms of the standards expected for NFT events. Tickets can be found using the following link: tickets
